This is just a repeat of the announcement I posted to our wedding blog. Although slightly different, I don’t usually like to duplicate posts, but our wedding website will be archived eventually, and I just wanted to let folks know about the big change that is about to happen.
I wanted to post an update about our mission to become homeowners in case anyone was still checking the website. We also pledged that we would keep everyone updated, and we are going to hold ourselves to that promise.
We have already been blessed with so much, including the fact that we are both working in this economy, but our biggest dream is to become homeowners. Any amount that you donate will go into a fund we specifically created to go towards a down payment on our first home. After the wedding, we pledge to update our wedding blog for all those who have helped us. We will post news about our search, and eventually photos of our new home. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
In July, Brian will be moving to Winston-Salem for a new position and to stay with family. I (Vanessa) will be maintaining my job in Raleigh while staying in Chapel Hill with family. We want to be together in Winston-Salem, but because of my individual financial responsibilities it isn’t possible for me to leave my job right now. We anticipate we will be apart for about a year, and plan to see each other every weekend. It takes so much generosity, support and kindness to donate to such a cause. We were truly fortunate for every single donation and wedding gift we received to go towards our first home. While we raised a great amount we still have a very long way to go, especially due to other financial responsibilities that make it seem as if we are taking one step forward and three steps back. We are continuing to add to our fund, never withdrawing from it, and we have come to a very difficult decision together that we hope will expedite our efforts to save money.
This has been a difficult decision for us to make, but by making these sacrifices now it will make it so much faster to save money. The faster we are able to save up enough money, the sooner we will be able to reunite as a family in our future home.
We truly appreciate your love and support!
We are finishing moving Brian out this weekend. It still hasn’t all hit me yet, but I have been feeling small bouts of sadness as I pack up our current apartment. I am going to miss Brian so much, and I can’t wait for that day when we close on our first home.
This post is a part of ‘Our Wedding’ (we were married May 19, 2012) and ‘Weekenders’ (our weekend adventures together until we are reunited hopefully in our first house), two temporary series on this blog. Find all ‘Our Wedding’ posts here, and all ‘Weekenders’ posts here.
