Isn’t that an awful picture? Too bad, it’s the only decent one we got this past weekend, haha.
Before Brian got here Friday, I walked a sidewalk route I plan to walk often. It’s a little over a mile one way, so I’ll be walking a little over 2 miles round trip. It’s a good, scenic walk, but Friday was incredibly hot and I went after I got off work around lunch time. This isn’t nearly as much exercise as I was getting in before our wedding, but it’s something for now. I also need to start drinking more water.
Brian arrived in no time, and I was so excited! I’ll go ahead and say upfront that we had a wonderful weekend.
We napped before going out to dinner at the Spotted Dog Restaurant & Bar in Carrboro. I used FoodFinder to help me out, because I am completely unfamiliar with this area, and all I knew was that Brian was in the mood for a nice bar restaurant. We planned on stopping in Tyler’s Taproom for a beer, but mosquitoes tore me up during dinner as we spent it eating outside, so instead we got some movies at the Redbox and some snacks on our way back and relaxed for the rest of the night. Just like old times. I had planned on buying this new red velvet cake ice cream by Blue Bunny, but the grocery store by us didn’t have it! I was pretty bummed. I ended up buying Snickers ice cream instead and a container of cookies from the bakery. As my friend John would say, “I’ve gained weight, ask me how.”
Saturday. Brian dropped me off at my waxing appointment, and mentioned that he might go to the Hibernian just down the road. When I came out and called him, it went straight to voicemail. Uh oh. I know you’re not supposed to change location when you’re lost or stranded, but there was only one road Brian could’ve taken and he would see me walking down the sidewalk if he came back down it so I started walking towards the Hibernian. I called the pub to try to get them to check if Brian was there and just as I started describing what he looked like to the hostess, I see Brian parked in front of a building ahead of me. He said he was at the Hibernian on the phone with his dad when the phone suddenly died, and at that point he started heading back to get me. This is such our usual luck. We always seem to be on the verge of a disastrous time, but then Life goes, “Eh, I’ll let this one go.”
Brian took me to Goodberry’s then we made our way back to the Hibernian to hang out for a little bit.
We stopped by Walmart before heading back to the house. I looked at their phones for a minute then we bought Brian picture frames for his office. That night I printed him out a ton of pictures from the wedding and put them in his new frames and in a tiny photo album for him to keep.
Sunday went by so incredibly fast. We went by the storage unit to find the cable for our TV that Brian took with him to Winston-Salem. I was worried that we’d be digging through there all day, but it was in a box right up front! How lucky!
We were able to grab brunch at Tyler’s Taproom afterward, and I am so glad that we did. I ordered chicken and waffles, and Brian had shrimp and grits. Both were dishes that I have never had before, I don’t think, and they were both incredibly delicious!
Brian dropped me off at home, and headed back. Sigh. I’m pretty sure saying goodbye to him every weekend isn’t going to get that much easier.
A couple hours later Auntie and I went to Bed Bath and Beyond where I got fluffy new pillows. After that we went to Walmart, and I ended up getting a new phone that I think I am going to really like. Finally, too! It wasn’t the new Galaxy S III like I wanted, but it’ll do for now. My current, soon-to-be-old, phone is the WORST so I’m just glad to have a phone that isn’t frozen 85% of the day, haha. We stopped by K&W Cafeteria for dinner, and called it a night.
